Why are PE pipe fittings so popular?
Polyethylene is an inert material. With the exception of a few strong oxidizing agents, it is resistant to corrosion by a wide range of chemicals and does not readily support the growth of microorganisms. It is well known that polyethylene piping systems have replaced steel and cast-iron pipes not only because they require less energy in production and operation, are lighter in weight, offer lower flow resistance, are easier and faster to install, have lower construction costs, and boast a longer service life, but also because they provide thermal insulation.
