What are the characteristics of PE pipe fittings?

Currently, PE pipe fittings It is a commonly used municipal pipeline, widely applied in the drainage manufacturing sector. It features high strength, high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, non-toxicity, and wear resistance.

PE pipe fittings exhibit unique flexibility and excellent scratch resistance, and the flexibility of polyethylene piping systems offers substantial technical and economic benefits. The inherent flexibility of polyethylene is a key property that significantly enhances the value of this material in pipeline engineering. Its high flexibility allows polyethylene pipes to be coiled into long lengths, thereby reducing the need for numerous joints and fittings.

 PE pipe fittings

  1. Reliable connection: Utilizes electric heating for joining, resulting in a joint strength that exceeds that of the pipe material itself.

  2. Excellent low-temperature impact resistance: The material exhibits an exceptionally low brittle transition temperature, allowing for safe operation over a wide temperature range of –60°C to 60°C. During winter installation, the piping demonstrates outstanding impact resistance and does not become brittle. The low-temperature brittleness threshold of PE pipe fittings is –70°C, which is superior to that of other types of pipe fittings.

  3. Outstanding resistance to stress cracking: HDPE exhibits excellent notch sensitivity, shear strength, and scratch resistance, as well as strong resistance to environmental stress cracking.

  4. Excellent chemical resistance: PE pipe fittings It is resistant to corrosion by a wide range of chemical media, and the chemicals in the soil will not cause degradation of the pipeline.

  5. Anti-aging and long service life: Carbon black is uniformly dispersed throughout the polyethylene pipe at a concentration of 2% to 2.5%, enabling it to be stored or used outdoors for up to 50 years without degradation from ultraviolet radiation. It offers numerous advantages, including applications in building water supply systems, building drainage systems, underground drainage pipes, building heating systems, gas pipelines, communication protection conduits, industrial pipelines, and agricultural irrigation systems.

  6. Corrosion resistance: Polyethylene is an inert raw material that can withstand corrosion by a wide range of chemical media. It is free from electrochemical corrosion and requires no anti-corrosion coating.

  7. Leak prevention: The key choice for PE pipe fittings—welded connections (fusion welding or socket fusion)—essentially ensures the material and structural compatibility of the joint with the pipe itself, thereby achieving seamless integration between the connection and the pipeline. Test results demonstrate that the tensile strength and burst pressure resistance at the joint exceed those of the pipe material, and, compared with rubber joints or other mechanical joints, no joint leakage has been observed.

  8. High toughness, PE pipe fittings These are highly resilient pipe fittings with an elongation at break typically exceeding 500%, making them exceptionally well-suited to accommodate uneven settlement of the pipe support foundation. They also exhibit excellent seismic performance. During the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake in Kobe, Japan, polyethylene natural gas and water supply pipelines were among the few pipeline systems that remained intact. Consequently, following the earthquake, the application of polyethylene in the natural gas industry in Japan experienced rapid expansion.

  9. The superior flexibility and pliability of PE pipe fittings allow them to be unrolled from coils, eliminating the need for various connecting components and enabling the delivery of longer lengths. For trenchless construction projects, the orientation can be easily adjusted in accordance with the specific construction method, and upon completion of the project, the original dimensions and specifications can be restored.
