Hot-melt pipe fittings utilize hot-melt technology, whereby the pipes are fully fused together.
Hot-melt pipe fittings Installation method: Construction installation method
(1) Installation personnel shall be familiar with the general properties of hot-melt socketed PP-R (random copolymer polypropylene) pipes and master the basic operational procedures.
(2) Installation personnel shall be familiar with the design drawings, understand the building’s structural and process layouts, and be aware of the interrelationships among different trades.
(3) Inspect materials, appearance, and accessories before construction. It is prohibited to expose cross-linked polypropylene pipes to direct sunlight for extended periods.
(4) Sleeves shall be installed at locations where pipelines penetrate walls or floor slabs. The inner diameter of the sleeve shall exceed the outer diameter of the pipe by 20 mm, and the space within the sleeve shall be filled with flexible, non-combustible material.
(5) Pipelines buried underground or concealed within walls and slabs shall first undergo a hydrostatic pressure test; only after passing the test may they be buried or enclosed.
Key Points for Piping
(1) Pipe cutting shall be performed using a dedicated pipe cutter or a standard hand saw. When cutting pipes, ensure that the cut surface is smooth and even. During cutting, the cross-section must be perpendicular to the pipe axis.
(2) Use a knife to scrape the outer surface at the end of the pipe. Prior to fusion welding, thoroughly clean the joint area with alcohol and then dry it with a clean cloth or paper. Also, mark the length of the pipe to be welded.
(3) Turn on the dedicated fusion welding machine and heat it to 260°C. Begin welding when the control indicator light turns green.
Hot-melt pipe fitting process flow:
Construction preparation → Trench excavation → Installation drawing preparation → Laying of underground pipelines → Pressure testing → Backfilling and installation of protective conduits → Quality inspection and documentation
Requirements:
Hot-melt pipe fittings The following conditions shall be met prior to installation and construction:
1. The construction drawings and other technical documents are complete, a drawing-based technical briefing has been conducted, and the project meets the construction requirements.
2. The construction plan, construction techniques, and supply of materials and equipment shall ensure the smooth progress of construction.
3. Construction personnel shall undergo technical training in the installation of polypropylene water supply piping for buildings.
4. The pipes and pipe fittings supplied shall comply with the design specifications and be accompanied by product manuals and certificates of quality. Materials showing any signs of damage shall not be used. Upon arrival at the site, verify the specifications and quantities of the materials. Inspect the pipes for bends or cracks; if any are found, promptly contact the manufacturer for replacement.
5. Pipes and pipe fittings shall be handled with care to avoid oil contamination. Pipes and fittings shall be stored in a well-ventilated warehouse or a simple shed. Outdoor storage is not recommended to prevent direct sunlight exposure; fire prevention measures must be observed. Pipes shall be stacked horizontally on a level surface, with a maximum stack height of 1.5 meters.
6. Pipelines shall be laid within the compacted rammed earth layer. After the soil layer has been compacted, excavation shall be carried out in accordance with the pipeline burial depth. It is strictly prohibited to lay pipelines before backfilling or in uncompacted soil layers. No protruding hard objects are allowed. Soil particle size should not exceed 12 mm; if necessary, a 100-mm-thick sand bedding layer may be provided.
