What are the key points for using steel-plastic conversion?

Steel-plastic transition This industry boasts excellent growth prospects, as its applications deliver numerous benefits to enterprises, making it highly favored by customers. To help everyone gain a deeper understanding of it, we will now outline the key considerations for using steel-plastic transition fittings, with the hope of providing valuable guidance to more people.

 Steel-plastic transition

Even today, many people still lack a basic understanding of steel-plastic transition technology. As a manufacturer, it is therefore necessary for us to provide a brief explanation—after all, even with dozens of… Steel-plastic transition The connection process requires only one construction worker. As long as the installation is carried out in strict accordance with the PPR pipe hot-melt connection construction specifications, a fast and reliable hot-melt joint can be achieved, ensuring uniform weld penetration and a more robust, safer joint. Moreover, since this product primarily relies on hot-melt connections, the overall cost is low. On the one hand, PPR pipes are plastic pipes and therefore cheaper than metal pipes; on the other hand, hot-melt fusion equipment can be reused multiple times, making the connection process both convenient and efficient. The hydraulic unit does not require excessive oil filling. It is also important to note that, in the sales and application of polyethylene piping systems, fittings account for approximately 15% to 20% of total sales. Polyethylene piping system fittings are mainly divided into two categories: hot-melt fittings and electrofusion fittings. Of course, in engineering applications, due to cost considerations, hot-melt fittings are used more frequently than electrofusion fittings, which has led to some dissatisfaction. Nevertheless, electrofusion fittings play an indispensable role in engineering projects and maintenance—particularly in construction—because they are less susceptible to external environmental conditions and human error.

Steel-to-plastic transition fittings are increasingly being used in gas pipeline projects, particularly electrofusion fittings. At the same time, due to their high price, high production costs, and complex manufacturing processes, electrofusion fitting manufacturers enjoy very high profit margins, making this segment a hot investment area. Steel-to-plastic transition fittings offer long service life and excellent corrosion resistance; they also ensure leak-free joints. By employing electrofusion connections, the joint is integrated with the pipe itself, fundamentally guaranteeing the homogeneity of the PE piping system’s structure, interface materials, and pipe body. Beyond these visible advantages, such fittings effectively resist underground movements and end loads: since the PE piping system is joined by welding, there is no risk of joint leakage, and the joints can withstand end loads. Moreover, the material’s stress-relaxation properties allow it to dissipate stress through deformation, which means that, in most cases, expensive joint and bend anchors are not required. On the other hand, due to its high toughness and an elongation at break typically exceeding 500%, the PE piping system exhibits strong adaptability to uneven settlement of the pipeline foundation. During installation, it is essential to cut the pipe section perpendicularly, insert the spigot into the corresponding socket of the electrofusion fitting, and use a scraper to remove the surface oxide layer. Steel-plastic transition Mark the pipe surface with a marker according to the insertion depth of the fusion fitting.

The above article has introduced some key points about the use of steel-plastic transition fittings. If you weren’t familiar with them before, now is a good time to take a look. In the next installment, we’ll cover more related knowledge—stay tuned!
