Key Points for Installing Electrofusion Fittings

   Electrofusion Fittings Generally, it refers to a pipe that can achieve a specific melting temperature when an electric current is passed through it, thereby providing reliable joint integrity. This type of piping material is now widely used in numerous industries and boasts significant market growth potential. So, what key considerations should be taken into account during the installation of electrofusion fittings?

 Electrofusion Fittings

  1. First, during installation, the inner wall and welding area of the electrofusion fitting must be free of organic matter and contaminants, and a safe working distance must be maintained throughout the welding process to prevent unnecessary injury.

  2. Electrofusion Fittings The landfill area must be located below the permafrost layer. It should be noted that, during the installation and welding process, the pipeline must not be submerged in water;

  3. In harsh environments with large diurnal temperature variations, promptly install centralizers and other supporting devices to secure the pipeline, thereby preventing thermal expansion and contraction from compromising the quality of the final weld. Additionally, when temperatures are exceptionally low, implement adequate thermal insulation measures to avoid unnecessary losses.

  4. During the pipeline cooling process, do not move it arbitrarily.

  Like steel-reinforced plastic composite pipes, electrofusion fittings are also made from PE100-grade polyethylene and play a critical role in practical applications; their quality directly determines the overall quality of pipeline installation.

  1. Inspect the fittings: Quality fittings should have a smooth, bubble-free surface, resembling a straight pipe; inferior electrofusion fittings, by contrast, often exhibit rough workmanship, bubbles, pits, and uneven coloration.

  2. Measure the length and wall thickness of the pipe fittings: High-quality electrofusion fittings have a deep socket and thick walls, whereas inferior fittings are short and thin.

  3. Weigh the pipe fittings: The better the fittings, the heavier they are; the inferior ones are lighter.

  4. When using Electrofusion Fittings During this process, observe whether there is a pungent or irritating odor. High-quality pipe fittings should meet hygiene and safety standards and be odorless; inferior fittings, on the other hand, may contain recycled materials and emit a strong, acrid smell.

  5. A hygiene license and approval documents are required. Proper pipe fitting labels should clearly indicate the certificate of conformity, manufacturer, model, welding parameters, and other relevant information. Otherwise, the product is unqualified and does not meet regulatory standards.

  After the electric fusion fitting is energized, the resistance wire inside the pipe gradually heats up under the influence of the welding parameters, and the heat is conducted through the wire to both the inner and outer walls of the pipe. When the temperature reaches a certain level, the PE material on the inner wall and the PE material on the outer wall melt and blend together, completing the entire welding process. The welding parameters for electric fusion fittings are set under laboratory conditions; however, they must be adjusted to accommodate variations in weather, ambient temperature, and voltage at the actual construction site. If the welding parameters are set too high during the process, the pipe may be burned through, exposing the resistance wire to the air and bringing it to its ignition point. If the operator continuously monitors the power settings of the welding equipment on site, any abnormalities can be detected promptly, allowing the welding power supply to be shut off immediately. Unfortunately, some operators fail to monitor the power parameters during welding and instead weld blindly according to pre-set values, which can easily lead to combustion.
